Avocados contain persin, a fungicidal toxin present in the leaves, skin, pit, and fruit. While small amounts of the flesh may not be immediately harmful to dogs, it can cause vomiting and diarrhea. The pit is also a serious choking and intestinal blockage hazard. Best avoided entirely.
